The IFC brought together all the links in the production chain under one roof to discuss relevant issues and trends in the industry. The theme—"From the water to the consumer"—reflected the event’s examination of Brazil's path forward in developing and promoting responsible fisheries and aquaculture.
A peek into the future
Marel presented some of its latest technological innovations and contributed two speakers: Iago Torres (Regional Sales Director) and Eduardo Weschenfelder (Account Manager), who spoke about how the industry can prepare for a more automated future.
Torres says there was a great deal of interest in the presentation: “The industry needs more automation to reduce costs and increase yields, as well as to help contain the price of the fish, so that fish products can be more competitive against other proteins.”
The Marel filleting, trimming, grading and data management solutions presented at the IFC showed attendees the possibilities and benefits of combining technology, machinery and software for their business. “Right now, it is a critical time for Brazil's transition into a more agile and automated future of fish processing,” says Weschenfelder.
Attendees also addressed the importance of environmental concerns, sustainability, product traceability and the role of Industry 4.0 in the future of processing.
