Vidar Erlingsson appointed EVP of Software Solutions

As EVP of Software Solutions, Vidar will be responsible for driving the global Software Solutions vision and strategy across the organization. That includes delivering on Marel’s ongoing commitment to become the digital partner of choice for our customers in the food processing industry. As introduced in the refined operating model, Software Solutions will become one of the seven business divisions reporting to Arni Sigurdsson, Chief Business Officer and deputy CEO.

Returning to Marel

Having been the Vice President of IT & Digital at Össur, a global orthopeadics company, since 2020, Vidar is returning to Marel where he has held various leadership roles throughout his career spanning over 20 years. Starting as an R&D engineer in Marel back in 2000, Vidar was instrumental in developing the Sensor X technology and played a key role in bringing the solution to commercial success. Before joining Össur, Viðar was EVP of Innovation and Engineering at Marel and is an experienced manager of innovative teams with a proven record of entrepreneurial leadership. Vidar has a M.Sc. degree in engineering from DTU in Denmark and a B.Sc. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Iceland.

Hjalti Thorarinsson, who has led Software Solutions for the last 5 years, will continue to support Marel in an advisory capacity during the transition.
