Information
As an answer to heavier chicken weights and smaller retail pack size, Marel Poultry developed the integration of RoboBatcher Flex and I-Cut 122 PortionCutter. Instead of cutting all fillets to one ideal average, this concept focuses on assessing individual breast fillets and it only cuts what is really needed. In this way it is a lot easier to reduce giveaway and increase product utilization.
Cutting according to recipes
Full interaction of a RoboBatcher Flex and an I-Cut 122 results in “a Robot with a Knife”. This concept allows for selective cutting of fillets, based on so-called recipes which specify the order requirements.
This pro-active system calculates and makes intelligent decisions by real-time comparing and controlling incoming product weight and the order recipes.
The integration of RoboBatcher and I-Cut adds value to offcut, instead of giving away the overweight.
Making use of the whole Gauss curve, the system exactly chooses the fillets which best match the described recipes.
High value cuts
Whenever a fillet enters the I-Cut 122, it is scanned and its weight is calculated. This information is sent to the RoboBatcher Flex, which decides what happens next, based on the recipes provided. If the fillet, as it is, complies with a recipe, it will pass through without any cutting. Cutting only occurs if this is the only way for the fillet to fit into a recipe. In that case, the I-Cut 122 will portion the fillet to the required weight, leaving a valuable “offcut” piece to be utilized for nuggets or strips. The RoboBatcher Flex now finishes the job by accurately batching the different products.
The alliance between RoboBatcher and I-Cut creates the perfect balance between incoming flow and outgoing orders. Result is maximum performance and best possible yield. Giveaway is kept extreme low, while precise cutting ensures that processors achieve highest product utilization with both fillets and offcuts as high value end products. This robot really does use its knife intelligently!
